When You Wish Upon a Star...

We have everything we need to succeed within.

Why do we struggle to consistently realise success?

Well there are two parts to the answer. Firstly perspectives. I have previously talked about the importance of reframing, the ability to apply appropriate and empowering mindsets to situations. Secondly, I'll refer to the lyrics of a well known song:

When you wish upon a starstar

Makes no difference who you are

Anything you heart desires

Will come to you

If your heart is in your dreams

No request is to extreme

When you wish upon a star

As dreamers do.

The two critical lines are "anything your heart desires" and "if your heart is in your dreams". In the context of this song, I equate the heart to our unconscious mind - which is custodian of our higher purpose or the internal compass that keeps us on track - the 'goal getter'. As for your dreams or goals; they are the realm of your conscious mind - the 'goal setter'.

But it doesn't matter how well you state your goals, if they are not aligned with your higher purpose - your unconscious mind - the 'goal getter', they will never 'come to you'. So simply 'wishing upon a star' is not enough to realise your goals. Your heart must be aligned to them.

Have you ever heard someone say about a goal or dream that their "heart is no longer in it". That is the realisation that there is now a lack of congruency between their conscious and unconscious minds - the goal no longer serves their purpose.

I feel it is a good outcome when people realise they aren't truly committed to a goal and can become comfortable to let it go and move on to what really matters. You will never achieve anything you don't truly have your heart set on. Familiar?
